Certified Peripherals

 

List of certified peripherals and accessories that have been found to work well with the Multisite Platform.

Audio Embedders

These devices are used to embed professional audio on SDI for input to the encoders.

  • Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Audio to SDI 4K – allows you to embed 4 channels of analog audio or 8 channels of AES/EBU digital audio into any SDI video signal over a 6G-SDI input. It provides four 1/4″ audio jack connectors for inputting and embedding your analog or digital audio channels.
  • AJA HD10AMA – 4-channel XLR Analog Audio Embedder / Disembedder. 2 SDI outputs. Compatible with 1.5G video signals and below (1080i59.94, 720p59.94, etc).
  • AJA 3G-AMA – 4-channel XLR Analog Audio Embedder / Disembedder. 1 SDI output. Compatible with 3G video signals and below (1080p60, 1080i59.94, etc). Re-Clocked SDI Output.
  • Cobalt BBG-EM-AA – Embed up to 8 channels of Analog Audio onto SDI via XLR with breakout cable BBG-CA-110-XLRF. Compatible with 3G video signals and below (1080p60, 1080i59.94, etc). Product may be ordered through Amplio Systems by e-mailing LA1@ampliosystems.com.

Audio De-embedders

These devices are used to obtain professional audio output from the decoders.

Gen 2 Decoders: Analog Audio from SDI

    • Blackmagic Design Mini Converter SDI to Audio – SDI from the decoder provides 4 channels of balanced analog audio with standard 1/4 inch jack connections. Compatible with 3G video signals and below (1080p60, 1080i59.94, etc).
    • Blackmagic Design Mini Converter SDI to Audio 4K – allows you to de-embed 4 channels of analog audio or 8 channels of AES/EBU digital audio from any SDI video signal via four 1/4″ audio jack connectors. Compatible with 6G video signals and below.
    • AJA HD10AMA – 4-channel XLR Analog Audio Embedder / Disembedder. 2 SDI outputs. Compatible with 1.5G video signals and below (1080i59.94, 720p59.94, etc).
    • AJA 3G-AMA – 4-channel XLR Analog Audio Embedder / Disembedder. 1 SDI output. Compatible with 3G video signals and below (1080p60, 1080i59.94, etc).
    • Cobalt BBG-DE-AA with breakout cable BBG-CA-110-XLRM. SDI from the decoder provides 8 analog audio channels via balanced XLR. Compatible with 3G video signals and below (1080p60, 1080i59.94, etc). Product may be ordered by emailing Orders@LivingAsOne.com.

Gen 2 Decoders: AES Audio to Dante from SDI

Gen 1/Windows Decoders: Analog Audio from USB 

  • Focusrite Scarlett 2i2* – USB from the Decoder provides 1/4″ TRS output for connection to soundboard, with ability to monitor locally with 1/4″ headphone jack.

*We have noticed system stability issues when both the 1st and 2nd gen drivers are present. Please ensure that only one Scarlett driver is installed at a time. 1st generation Scarlett 2i2 drivers can be found here,  2nd generation Scarlett 2i2 drivers can be found here.

Video Cross Converters

The following devices may be used for basic interface conversions (HDMI to/from SDI) and standard format conversions (resolution changes and de-interlacing).

If you need higher quality scaling and de-interlacing with inter-frame interpolation, we recommend the Blackmagic Design Taranex series.

Video Timing Synchronizers

The following external devices may be used to synchronize a video signal with a central timing reference (Color Black, Tri-Level sync). This can be used to genlock a decoder’s video output with production systems which do not offer automatic input frame synchronization. Note: Living As One now offers a decoder model that supports reference-input, which can provide timed video output from the decoder natively.

  • AJA UDC:  I/Os include SD/HD/3G SDI Input and Output, HDMI output, and 2-channel RCA style audio output. A Reference Input allows the UDC to be locked to a local reference.
  • Grass Valley ADVC G1: The ADVC G1 converts and/or upconverts sources to HD/SD-SDI (with 1.5 and 3 Gb/s support) via its HDMI, DVI, component, composite, and S-Video inputs. The box also functions as an audio embedder, capturing sources via its AES/EBU and analog audio inputs and embedding them for output via SDI. With its video reference input, the ADVC G1 is able to serve as a frame synchronizer.

KVM Extenders

If you need to control a decoder from another part of the building, we recommend the following KVM Extender(s).

Touchscreen Monitors

For use with a 2nd generation Multisite Decoders.

  • ASUS VT168H 15.6″ 16:9 10-Point Touchscreen LCD Monitor: Touchscreen monitor intended to be used with a Multisite Decoder. This monitor has not been tested internally, but we have had reports that it works well. Please note: a physical keyboard will be needed for input as there is no on-screen keyboard.

Rackmount Monitors & Consoles

For portable installations, the following rackmount monitors and consoles work well with Multisite Decoders.

Multi-WAN Routing

In order to simplify utilization and management of multiple internet connections, we recommend the following Multi-WAN router(s).

Wireless USB Adapters

If wireless network connectivity is required, the following USB adapter(s) have been known to work well with Multisite Decoders. To connect to a wireless network, additional instructions may be needed from Living As One’s support team.

*Works in the USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. Do not use the USB 3.1 port (the light-blue port labeled USB 3.1) with this adapter.

Ethernet USB Adapters

  • Plugable USB3-E1000 – USB to ethernet adapter which can be used for redundant ethernet connections.

*Works in the USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. Do not use the USB 3.1 port (the light-blue port labeled USB 3.1) with this adapter.

Power Conditioners

Many power strips, surge protectors, and UPS battery backup systems do not offer power conditioning. To protect your hardware, it is recommend to use a power conditioner to ensure you are providing “clean” AC power. The following devices offer power conditioning.

Blynclight

The Embrava Blynclight can be used as a visual indication tool for your Decoder’s buffer status. The Blynclight will change color based on the amount of buffer time available on your Decoder.
